The Eaglesfield Park Neighbourhood Watch Scheme celebrated its first year in operation in January 2007. Servicing the safety and security needs of 250+ residents in Cleanthus Road and Close, Eaglesfield Road, Foxcroft Road and part of Shooters Hill, the scheme is run by 13 dedicated co-ordinators.
All residents within the scheme automatically benefit from quarterly glossy newsletters, brochures and stickers produced by the Home Office, ad hoc safety and security material provided by the Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team and invitations to the Annual General Meeting, to name but a few. However, the scheme’s main aim is to encourage and promote community spirit.
The scheme has the full support of the Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team and Metropolitan Police, as well as the Woolwich and Plumstead Bowling Club and Shooters Hill Lawn Tennis Club.
Keys aims for 2007 include:
· Improve communication with the Police
· Address the anti social behaviour prevalent at the junction of Foxcroft and Cleanthus Roads
· Provision of a Park Keeper/Ranger
The Eaglesfield Park Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators are proud of the achievements in 2006 including:
· Increased Police presence in the area
· Close and ongoing working relationship with the Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team
· Proactive communication with the Police including intelligence gathering, phone calls and emails
· Attendance at the Shooters Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team Ward Panel meetings
· Attendance at the Greenwich Borough Neighbourhood Watch meetings
· A dedicated team of co-ordinators
· Liaison with our local MP and councillors
· Liaison with Greenwich Council Parks and Opens Spaces
The scheme is keen to recruit more co-ordinators. If you are passionate about improving the area, have some spare time, would like to work with a dedicated team of individuals and have fun, please contact Principal Co-ordinator Jenny Penn on 020 8854 3337 (evenings).
