The It Crowd, Series 1
Did you watch the first series of The It Crowd? If not, you can buy the DVD and see for yourself what everyone’s been talking about. Not only is this comedy funny, it’s so realistic you can’t help but laugh. Roy (Chris O’Dowd) and Moss (Richard Ayoade) are the typical basement IT workers when Jen (Katherine Parkinson) comes in as Relationship Manager. It’s a laugh a minute comedy and is bound to have you crying with laughter. After watching it you’ll most likely be reciting the line “Have you tried turning it on and off again?”
The It Crowd, Series 2
A great follow up to the first series, this sees Roy, Moss and Jen more out of the basement. With the death of Deynholm and Douglas becoming the owner of Reynholm Industries, there are many more adventures to be had. From seeing a gay musical called Gay, a run in with a German cannibal and a trip to Dragon’s Den with a bra that never goes wrong, it’s the best comedy of the year. Heat magazine calls it “The funniest sitcom currently on TV”.
The Mighty Boosh
You can’t just buy series 1 or series 2, you have to get the box set otherwise it just isn’t right. This is a comedy for the weirder population of the UK. With main characters Vince Noir (Noel Fielding) and Howard Moon (Julian Barrett), you can’t help but love their slightly strange ways. From the moment you watch Killeroo, you can’t help but fall in love with them. That’ll be when you decide, what the hell, let’s just get the box set. It’s like no other comedy around and the characters can come across as quite surreal sometimes with a green man (The Hitcher), a talking gorilla (Bollo) and a shaman who irons his clothes (Naboo), you’d be mad not to watch it.
Spirited Away
This is the most breath taking anime film yet and the best edition from Studio Ghibli. With the typical story line of a girl and a boy who fall in love and would do anything to save each other, at first glance it seems just like every other anime film. The animation on Spirited Away is much better than any other and the scenery is almost life like. It all starts with Chihiro’s father taking a detour and Chihiro soon finds out that it’s a magical world with lots of complications. Empire calls it “A magical experience, sets a new benchmark for animation”. A must watch for any anime lovers.
